Latch

Song of the day. Not sure how this came about, but I’m not fighting it. Was introduced to this beat by Aira a few months ago, but I’m catching the bug just now. Eh. I’m latching onto you~

The Call – Regina Spektor

I was reading a fanfic from this lovely writer (can’t link the specific fic because her works are community member-locked) a few days ago which turned out to be a songfic. This was the song used, and by the end of reading it my eyes were wet from suppressed tears. It was that good. After reveling in my feels, I wondered where I heard the song before; it sure sounded familiar. Turns out, when I searched for it online, it was part of Prince Caspian’s soundtrack. This frustrated me to no end, because that movie was released five years ago and I only appreciated it now. But maybe it was meant to be; after all, part of what attracted me to The Call is how applicable it is to my life now.

I’ll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

This relates to me so much because I’m about to graduate. The big day’s only a few weeks from now, and I can’t help but be wistful about my college life as well as my future real-world-adult-working life. This is it; I’m almost part of the unemployed working force. I can’t say I made much difference, just because I don’t feel like I did something significant; but for those I have had a pleasure of encountering during my stay in the university, thank you. This is dedicated to you, you guys I’ve met along this journey, because you made my college life all the more interesting. I have grown as a person, and I believe you have contributed a lot to this development. As I leave this chapter of my life, I won’t cry, nor will I be sad, because there’s no need for goodbyes; just beckon, and I’ll be there.

True Love – Pink

I’ve been neglecting my blog for too long. And so I come back.. WITH A BANG! Or so I think…

This is a recording (YES!! THAT’S MY VOICE RIGHT THERE! AND ME PLAYING WITH CRAPPY GUITAR SKILLS!) dedicated to one of the fanfiction writers I follow on LiveJournal. One of the qualifications she listed before adding someone is to prove why certain someone deserves to be added. I told her I’ll serenade her. And though she deemed it unnecessary, I still want to do something to egg her on with her writing. This includes not only her, but the legion of fanfiction writers in that fandom (yes, it’s K-POP related, not gonna elaborate much because I know people aren’t really interested).

This is also my first ever recording, so please don’t bash or something. Just.. spread the love. Also I love this song {and the album where it came from [actually the whole discography (I just love Pink okay)]} and all its dysfunctional glory.

One Year Later – Jessica (SNSD) feat. Onew (SHINee)

Very recently (like, a few hours ago), I’ve been obsessed with YouTube surfing for Onew’s singing clips. When I started my addiction with Kpop, it wasn’t really about their songs; I mean, I couldn’t understand a word, so why bother? This has been my mindset since high school. Rather, I’m more attached to the variety shows that most idols join. But then I tried listening to SHINee songs, and I was intrigued by their leader’s voice. It’s distinct because it’s not the usual boy band voice; his voice sounds like a balladeer’s, but he pulls off pop songs all the same. So I started searching. Anyway, I came across this and thanks to the subs, I appreciated the song fully. I think I fell in love with Onew’s voice more because of this. Lovely singer. Sorry if you’re a Jessica fan, and if you’re reading this, because I couldn’t care much about her parts. But she sings the song well, too (I had to give her credit, even if I’m solely listening to this because of Onew).

The song is about an ex-couple  meeting each other coincidentally after one year of separation. All the painful memories come back, with regrets of how the relationship turned out. At the end, they agree to forget everything and just go back to being strangers. I’ve never been in a relationship so I can’t say I can relate to this, but the song is seriously moving. Add to that that the melody is simply killer. Its charm is in its simplicity; everything feels much richer because the emotions are given the chance to shine. I’m trying to look for the chords, but all in vain. I wish there’s a similar English version for this one, it’s just too good.

I know I’m late by a few years, and this is not new, but still… I’m a recent KPOP convert. So there.

And if you’re here just because you wanted to listen to the song, feel free to do so. Just ignore my (tame) fangirling.
